Hocking Hills, OH

I’ve been to Hocking Hills many times throughout my life, but this visit was different.

Normally, Hocking Hills would be an extended weekend getaway. This time, it was my first stop on the road—and my first place to call home. Not a forever home, but my home on the road for the next two weeks.

Preparing for this journey over the past three months was exhausting. I essentially crammed more than six months of planning, finishing Frank the Tank, packing up my belongings, and moving everything I wasn’t taking with me into storage into a much shorter timeframe.

During those final two weeks, my close friends really stepped up. They helped me knock out items on the checklist, move things, solve last-minute problems, and, most importantly, they were just really good friends.

My last night before hitting the road ended with a surprise party, and I couldn’t have asked for a better way to wrap up this chapter. Seeing everyone together meant a lot to me.

Now the real adventure begins.

But wait… there was also a big surprise. My cousins Mark and Deb, who have spent years traveling the country in their van, surprised me by showing up at Hocking Hills State Park Campground.

They knew I was about to embark on a pretty huge life change and wanted to be there to help make the transition a little easier—and a lot less overwhelming.

I honestly don’t have the words to express how much it meant to me that they thought to do something like that. It was incredibly kind, completely unexpected, and one of those moments I’ll remember for a long time.

I’m looking forward to documenting this road trip here on my website and on Instagram, sharing the places I visit, the people I meet, the adventures along the way, and the little moments that make life on the road memorable.
